Croatian teen skier Zrinka Ljutić, who continues to etch her name in the annals of Croatian skiing history, has finished second in the World Cup Giant Slalom in Jasna, Slovakia on Sunday.
After an impressive fourth-place finish in the giant slalom at Jasna on Saturday, the 19-year-old sensation claimed an even more remarkable achievement by securing the second spot in the slalom on Sunday.
Her time of 1:48.35 not only marked a personal best but also solidified her status as a rising star in the world of alpine skiing.
Mikaela Shiffrin, who earned a record-extending 95th World Cup victory, finished just 14 hundredths of a second ahead of the Croatian.
In a nail-biting competition, Ljutić gave Mikaela Shiffrin a run for her money, applying intense pressure before Shiffrin ultimately secured victory.
Anna Swenn-Larsson finished third with an 81-hundredths-of-a-second deficit.
Making her World Cup debut at the tender age of 16 back in 2020, Her participation in the 2022 Winter Olympics, competing in both slalom and giant slalom events, further showcased her prowess on the international stage.
Ljutić had already left an indelible mark in the history of Croatian skiing. As a member of the Croatian ski club Žuti Mačak in Zagreb, she secured a historic gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Canada in 2022.
This triumph was not only a personal achievement but also marked the first gold medal ever won by a Croatian female at the FIS World Junior Championships.
