Croatian tennis legend Goran Ivanisevic says that Croatia has a top ten women’s player in the making after teenager Ana Konjuh took out her sixth tournament in Bradenton, Florida on the weekend
The 14-year-old from Dubrovnik beat the 1st and 3rd ranked junior in the world on her way to the final of the event. In the final Konjuh beat Austrian Barbara Haas, only losing two games in the process, 6-1, 6-1. Konjuh has now made it through to six finals, winning all six.
“I don’t know what would have to happen for Ana Konjuh not to make it into the top 10 women’s players in the world,” said Goran after the victory, writes Jutarnji list.
Remember the name Ana Konjuh, she may well be the next Croatian women, after Iva Majoli in France in 1997, to win a Grand Slam.
