The Croatian women’s national team, who will play Norway in Osijek for a place in the A league of the Nations League, visited the Ovčara Memorial Home and the Memorial Cemetery for the Victims of the Homeland War.
The role of hosts was taken over by the president of the county’s HVIDRA, Stjepan Mađarac, and HVIDRA member Slavko Jurić from Vukovar. Croatian representatives laid wreaths and lit candles, paying tribute to the victims.
The Croatian women’s team will play the first playoff match for a spot in the A League of the Nations League against Norway at Opus Arena in Osijek on February 23 at 6 p.m.
“We can hardly wait for the match, which for most of us is the culmination of our careers so far, given its importance and the strength of the opponent. Norway is one of the best European teams with players from the biggest European clubs. What we can guarantee before the match is that we will leave our hearts on the field and give our maximum. I believe we will feel phenomenal at Opus Arena and that we will have significant support from the stands. We can’t wait to feel that atmosphere,” said captain Doris Bačić.
