UEFA EURO 2024 has stirred excitement among football fans worldwide. However, navigating ticket sales and ensuring authenticity has become a pressing issue for enthusiasts, especially in Croatia.
In January, UEFA provided updates to fans who applied for tickets in the supporter sectors during the second phase of sales. Concurrently, tickets surfaced for resale on various platforms, both domestically and internationally.
Official Ticket Sales and Fan Interest Record
The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) clarified that UEFA exclusively handles the sale and distribution of EURO 2024 tickets, ensuring transparency and fairness. HNS has emphasised in a statement that they neither have nor will sell tickets for the tournament.
HNS disclosed that the first phase of sales occurred in September, allowing fans to apply for tickets based on host cities. The second phase, after the final tournament draw, enabled fans to apply for supporter sector tickets. Notably, each national team receives 10,000 tickets for first-round matches, with 90% reserved for direct fan purchase. Despite overwhelming interest, many Croatian fans were unable to secure tickets. More than 140,000 Croatian fans applied for tickets for Croatian team matches, requesting over two million tickets in total.
Mobile Ticketing
UEFA has provided resources to guide fans through the process, including FAQs and instructional videos for mobile ticket entry. Notably, only tickets purchased by individuals, up to four per person, are personalised. The actual ticket issuance is slated for late May or early June.
Ticket Resale Concerns
The Croatian Football Federation acknowledged the emergence of ticket listings on various platforms and within travel agencies. However, it emphasised UEFA’s official ticket resale platform as the sole authorised channel.
Unauthorised purchases pose risks, as tickets advertised elsewhere cannot be verified until received by the original purchaser. The Federation has alerted relevant authorities and UEFA to combat unauthorised ticket sales.
