Croatia is full of beauty and great places to enjoy, but many have not heard of Archaeological Park Vrlovka.
Here is an opportunity to get acquainted with the incredible beauties that are located in the Municipality of Kamanje, only ten kilometers from Ozalj towards the Slovenian border, an hour and a half from Rijeka and only half an hour from Karlovac.
This Friday, the doors of this natural beauty are opening and a whole range of interesting things await you that will delight the whole family.
Vrlovka Cave is located next to the river Kupa, so a real natural treat awaits you, and what is even better, it is a location where human habitation has been confirmed since Neolithic times, through antiquity and the Middle Ages, all the way to the present day.
You probably didn’t know, but this is the place where the sky opened up to the Indo-Europeans and then the communication between the celestial and the underworld took place. This place was a place of pilgrimage. It was a sanctuary where gifts were brought to the forces of evil and the forces of good.
“Karlovac County will continue to invest in rich tourist potentials in order to justify the epithet of the most visited continental county. We believe that Archaeological Park Vrlovka will justify its existence and attract many domestic and foreign visitors, especially our friendly Slovenia,” Marina Furdek Hajdin, Karlovac County Prefect, pointed out.
Apart from Vrlovka itself, which will enchant you at first, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy a picnic or kayak ride, and for such additional content it is enough to sign up through the social networks of Archaeological Park Vrlovka and you can easily sign up for additional pleasures in nature.
There will soon be the possibility of horseback riding, but also a whole range of additional content. Visitors can expect many interesting stories – from science to entertainment, and since, due to the protection of the site, the cave must be closed part of the year, you can expect 3D technology that will allow you to experience the cave in the months when it is closed.
This 3D presentation is actually a real treat for children and adults because you will go through ten stories and ten locations, and you will learn all about the dark forces that people believed in, the origin of the cave and of course the bats that live there.
In addition to walking through the cave, 3D virtual reality technology will offer a walk and socialising with “living” residents of the Neolithic village that lived in this same place.
“In terms of content, Archaeological Park Vrlovka has an exceptional cultural and tourist potential and in a short period of time will become a recognisable picnic spot for all generations and beyond the Republic of Croatia. We welcome you,” said Damir Mateljan, Mayor of Kamanje.
This pearl of Croatia opens this Friday, May 27, at 12 o’clock, and since Monday is a public holiday, this weekend has been extended until Monday. The cave will be open from 12 pm to 3 pm, but on the opening day from 8 pm to 10 pm. The first day you will find a musical evening with the group “La Papa”.
This year, it is planned that the Park for visitors will be open only on weekends, but over time, as interest becomes greater, the Park is already considering additional dates and facilities.
You can follow Archaeological Park Vrlovka on Facebook and Instagram where many interesting things of this location await you, but also the possibility to book an appointment for a picnic or kayak.
