Croatia’s Dina Levačić nominated for WOWSA Woman of the Year award

Swimmer Dina Levačić arrives in New Zealand where she aims to make Croatian history

Croatian long distance swimmer Dina Levačić has been nominated by World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) for Woman of the Year 2023 Award.

The WOWSA Awards is an annual recognition of the world’s open water swimmers, products, services and events in 6 different categories via a global online poll.

In 2023, Dina became the 12th person in the world to complete the Original Triple Crown when she successfully crossed the Bristol Channel, situated between England and Wales. Earlier she completed the English Channel and the North Channel.

She also in the year became the 23rd person ever and the only Croatian to complete the Oceans Seven, which is a marathon swimming challenge consisting of the 7 largest and most difficult channels in the world.

Dina swam the Cook Strait between the North and South Islands of New Zealand in March, 2023 after swimming the Catalina Channel and the English Channel in 2017,  the Molokai Channel in Hawaii in 2018, the Tsugaru Channel in Japan in 2019, the North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland in 2022.

She also completed the Irish Triple Crown.

The public can vote on the nominees split across 6 main award categories on the WOWSA website from January 14, 2023 – January 31, 2024.
