Croatia’s favourite baby names today and over time

The Ministry of Justice, Administration, and Digital Transformation has released data on the most common names given to babies born between 1st April and 30th June this year in Croatia.
During this period, 7,768 children were born, of which 3,936 were boys and 3,742 were girls, Index Mame writes.
The highest number of babies was born in the City of Zagreb (2,520), followed by the Split-Dalmatia County (943), Osijek-Baranja County (504), and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County (466).
Among boys, the most popular names were Luka (150), David (108), Jakov (108), Toma (103), and Niko (90).
For girls, the top five names were Mia (109), Rita (97), Sara (91), Ema (73), and Marta (72).
Parents of boys also favoured names like Petar (87), Ivan (84), Matej (84), Roko (76), and Noa (73).
For girls, popular choices included Lucija (68), Nika (68), Mila (59), Iva (57), and Eva (56).
