Success for Croatia at the 2018 World Junior Judo Championships in Nassau, The Bahamas which ended on Saturday.
Karla Prodan from Split in Croatia has won the silver medal in the women’s -78 kg category.
“I am happy for the medal, but there is still some regret for the final. I had injured ribs which made it more of a challenge. I gave it all I had, I am exhausted and I can not wait to get home and rest,” the 20-year-old new vice world champion said.
Prodan, who was a world junior champion in 2015, reached the final after a dramatic win in the semi-final when she took the fight into a ‘golden score’ with just 14 seconds on the clock.
Prodan went down to Japan’s Winoko Rada in the final.
With the world silver medal in her pocket, Prodan will now aim to qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.
More than 400 competitors from 67 countries took part in this year’s championships.
