ZAGREB, Aug 21 (Hina) – The 26th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival, held in the online format from 14 to 21 August, on Thursday made public this year’s winners, and Croatian actress Marija Skaricic won the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Actress for her role in the film entitled “Mare”.
Skaricic said that the decision of the festival jury made her happy and thanked all engaged in making this film.
The “Mare” film, co-produced by Croatia and Switzerland, is about a woman whose name is Mare and who has never flown, although she lives right next to the airport with her husband and their three teenage kids. She loves her family and cares for them, but sometimes almost feels like a stranger in her own home.
The Croatian short film titled “Antiotpad” (“Anti-Waste” in an unofficial translation), won the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Short Film. The 18-minute film, directed by Tin Zanic, is about a problematic teenage boy.
The Heart of Sarajevo for the Best Feature Film goes to the “Exile” directed by Kosovo filmmaker Visar Morina. The story of the film is about Xhafer, a 45-year-old, Kosovo-born pharmaceutical engineer living in Germany, who suddenly feels discriminated against and bullied at work because of his ethnic background.
This year’s festival offered 187 films from 56 countries.
