Croatian Marija Vukašina has reached the finals, placing in the top 15, at the Beauty of the World pageant held in Jiuzhaigou, China.
In addition to this achievement, she was also awarded the special sash of “Miss Charm” during the competition.
Marija, proud to represent Croatia, took the opportunity to showcase the rich cultural heritage of her homeland to the world.
“This is a huge opportunity for Croatia, as it has been a long time since we reached the finals in such prestigious pageants. I will now continue working with the World Beauty Congress organisation, who are my official managers. The pageant featured a top 15 and then a top 5, with Sweden, the USA, Zambia, Venezuela, and Kyrgyzstan making the top 5,” she told us.
This marked Marija’s second trip to China, as she first visited last year for the Miss Tourism World pageant.
This year, Marija personally contributed to the design of her national costume, a modern and traditional blend featuring intricate details of the famous Pag lace. The costume was crafted by designer Andrea Morell.
The elegant white gown with lace sleeves evokes the style of Croatian folk dress, while the red belt adorned with traditional motifs symbolises the nation’s artistry and craftsmanship.
This creation is a testament to how Croatian tradition and modern design can coexist, sending a powerful message about the nation’s rich history and culture.
Originally from Zadar, on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, Marija is a passionate ambassador for her country.
“Croatia has so much to offer in its continental region as well. Plitvice Lakes is a place I believe everyone should visit. And, of course, Dubrovnik, with its unique architecture, is where many films and series have been shot. I always mention that the famous Game of Thrones was filmed there. I’m from Zadar, and my favourite place is the Sea Organ and the Church of St. Donatus. Whenever I need to relax, I go there to listen to the beautiful sounds of the Sea Organ,” she told us earlier.
Marija says that she always presents Croatia with immense pride. In all her interviews, she makes sure to say that she is proud to be Croatian and that no matter where she is, Croatia always holds a special place in her heart.
