Croatia’s oldest fashion model, 60-year-old Zvončica Vučković, says she has no plans to stop anytime soon…
Vučković, who has graced fashion runways around the world for the past four decades, is still in demand and has recently finished shooting campaigns for brands in Austria, Sweden and in Croatia.
Zvončica enjoyed a successful international career which peaked in the 1970s and 1980s. She worked for some of the world’s biggest names in fashion and mixed with a number of famous people, including artist Andy Warholl whom she met in New York. 40 years later and the Croatian model is still in demand.
“They spotted me in a magazine in Helsinki and then they went looking for me around Europe and found me”, Zvončica explained to RTL how her latest overseas client discovered her, adding that her distinct white hair has helped her land jobs.
“When I was 35 I cut all my hair down to 1 cm and said to myself whatever grows out, grows out, and it was completely white”, she recalls, saying that a number of women have had the courage to leave their white hair because of her.
Today Zvončica is a grandmother of two boys, a four-year-old and a 5 month-old.
“It is the most beautiful thing in the world. I am lucky that I am a young grandmother in the head.”
Zvončica could one day emulate 88-year-old Daphne Selfe, who is the oldest working model in the world. Selfe in her 80s been the face of many campaigns and has appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine.
