He quit smoking at the ripe old age of 93, only because he was worried he would fall asleep with a lite cigarette and burn the house down, he drinks two coffees and a glass of red wine every day, and he officially holds the title of being Croatia’s oldest person.
Andrija Prlic, who was born on 11 November 1907, raised 7 sons and 5 daughters, he has 31 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and he says he feels fine. Prlic also puts his longevity down to a good marriage.
“For my age, I can’t complain!, Harmony in marriage is the recipe to live a long life,” Prlic told daily Croatian newspaper Vecernji list.
Prlic, who lives in Velika Kopanica in eastern Croatia, has seen the country change 6 times throughout his 105 years, from the Austro-Hungarian Empire when he was born – right through to modern-day Croatia today.
