Croatia’s President on State Visit to China

At the invitation of President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, Croatia’s President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is currently on a state visit to China…
After a welcoming ceremony at Tiananmen Square, a bilateral meeting between the two delegations took place. During the meeting, Grabar-Kitarović said that the two countries were linked by long-term friendship and an openness which would be strengthened further by this visit on the 10th anniversary of the Partnership of Cooperation agreement between the two nations.
“Our partnership takes place today in a new context, Croatia is a full member of the European Union and NATO and in these organizations, China receives another steady friend,” she said.
Croatia’s President expressed confidence that the next Croatian government, elected on 8 November, will continue to strengthen the Croatian-Chinese partnership, particularly economically.
Xi Jinping said that with since Croatia’s President has taken office she has shown friendship towards Chinese people and actively promotes the strengthening of relations between the two countries. He also added the upcoming meeting in Shanghai with representatives of the Chinese business community and Croatian companies working in China will help confirm the emphasis on future Croatian-Chinese economic relations. China’s President also expressed his willingness to discuss the growing imports of Croatian goods on the Chinese market.
Tomorrow Grabar-Kitarović will meet with China’s Prime Minister, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and visit Huawei’s research centre.
