Saudi Arabia’s inaugural electric vehicle (EV) brand, Ceer, has entered a landmark partnership with Rimac Technology to equip its high-end vehicles with state-of-the-art Electric Drive Systems (EDS).
Ceer, a venture between Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and electronics giant Foxconn, announced the collaboration at a ceremony at Rimac’s Croatian headquarters.
The signing was attended by Mate Rimac, CEO of Rimac Technology, and Ceer CEO, James DeLuca.
James DeLuca expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its importance for Ceer’s ambitions to establish itself as a premium EV brand in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. He noted that Rimac’s expertise in high-performance powertrains aligns well with Ceer’s vision of bringing advanced EV technology to Saudi Arabia.
“This collaboration marks a significant step forward, enabling us to provide our flagship vehicles with leading-edge electric drive technology,” DeLuca stated, adding that Ceer aims to transform Saudi Arabia’s automotive sector with innovative, high-performance EVs.
For Rimac Technology, known for its high-performance electric systems in luxury cars like the Rimac Nevera and Aston Martin Valkyrie, the partnership represents an expansion into larger-scale production.
Historically focused on limited-edition, high-performance projects, Rimac Technology is increasingly taking on large-scale contracts. Earlier this year, the company initiated a long-term partnership with BMW Group for the supply of high-voltage battery systems, and this latest venture with Ceer signals Rimac’s debut in the GCC market.
Mate Rimac, CEO of Rimac Group, remarked that this collaboration strengthens Rimac’s global standing as a leader in electric powertrain technology.
He noted, “Our recent partnerships with industry giants, including Ceer and BMW, are driving our production of tens of thousands of advanced electric systems and batteries for the world’s leading automakers.” Rimac also highlighted investments in Croatia, where the company’s expanded production facilities, including the new Rimac Campus, will soon be fully operational.
