At the third and last World Cup rowing regatta of the year in Lucerne, Switzerland, brothers Martin and Valent Sinković took first place in the doubles final.
The Sinković brothers started strong at the start and maintained their advantage throughout the race, winning in a time of 6:07.19, which was more than a second ahead of Australians David Bartholot and Caleb Antill in second place.
Third place went to Span’s Aleix Garcia Pujolar and Rodrigo Conde Romero.
“We are overjoyed with the victory! It was a really hard race and we congratulate the Australians and Spaniards who were great opponents, especially in the finish. We rowed our way, achieved three victories in three world cups and now we are only looking ahead,” said Valent Sinković.
After this finish and victory, Martin and Valent Sinković continue their preparations for the European Championship, which will be held in Munich from August 11 to 14.
“We still have work to do. I have to admit that I am not completely satisfied with how I rowed today, but it is a good incentive for us to be even better and to always do our best. Now we are starting our preparations, we are going to work even harder and we hope to row the best we know at the European Championships!” – said Martin Sinković.
Sisters Ivan and Josipa Jurković took 5th place in the final race with a time of 7:11.92.
“It didn’t go as we planned. The first 1300 meters were quite good, but the last 750 just didn’t work. We still lack kilometers and races to compete with these girls, however fifth place in the world is not a small thing, we have a long way to go and we are not giving up. We are satisfied, we are moving on and going to prepare for the European Championship,” said Ivana Jurković.
