Let the Games begin. The 33rd Olympic Games opened last night in Paris.
Over the next two and a half weeks, 73 athletes will represent Croatia in 16 sports.
In Tokyo three years ago, Croatia won eight medals, two fewer than the record haul in Rio in 2016.
When considering the number of medals won in relation to population size, Croatia ranked 12th among the most successful countries, with San Marino leading the table with three medals.
Although Croatia might not have outright favourites for gold like the Sinković brothers or Sandra Elkasević (nee Perković) in previous Olympic Games, some athletes have recently shown exceptional form and could be contenders in Paris.
