Good weather and the instability in Tunis, Turkey and Greece has helped Croatia recorded the highest tourism growth in the Mediterranean…
In the first seven months of 2015 Croatia recorded growth of 8.7% in the number of tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year. Croatia’s growth was the highest among its Mediterranean neighbours.
Official statistics show that Greece recorded growth of 6.3%, 3.3% of which was in June, whilst another major destination in the Mediterranean, Spain, saw growth of 4.7% in tourist arrivals in the first seven months of this year. Turkey saw a drop in tourists of 0.38% in the first seven months of 2015 with revenues from tourism also dropping from 13.7 billion dollars to 12.6 billion dollars. Tunis, after the terrorist attack there this summer, also experienced a decline in the number of tourists.
Croatia is expected to end the season with growth of around 8%.
