FC Croatia Dublin has played a friendly minifootball match against the national team of the Republic of Ireland in the Sports Dome in Dublin.
The match was a warm-up for the Irish national team ahead of their important match against the Croatian national team at the international tournament that is being played in Croatia in February.
It was a high tempo match with many nice moves and, above all, both teams were commended for their fair play. It was also the the first time in Ireland that a competitive international small sided soccer match was carried out with no referees.
FC Croatia Dublin is currently playing in the Irish Inter7s.com league, where the rule is that there is no referee. In the end, the Irish national team won the match, but the result was definitely in the background.
The match was made possible thanks to the Minifootball Association of Ireland, the Inter7s league and the good cooperation of the captain of the Croatia team, Josip Mijatović.
FC Croatia Dublin was founded in 2019 under the name Cro Team Dublin, and later it changed its name to FC Croatia Dublin mainly on the initiative of Matej Mišić, Josip Kelava and Josip Mijatović.
All Croatia Dublin players are nostalgic for their homeland, so they chose the recognisable red and white checkers as their jerseys, and the club’s crest is also in the same colours.
FC Croatia Dublin won the 2nd Division in the Inter7s League, and when they entered the 1st Division, they also won it and the Shield Cup. Their desire is to win the Inter7s Champion league, in which the winners of all Divisions play, and they have their first chance this year.
