A Split-based IT company has launched CroCare — an online platform where tourists can access valuable information on such things as COVID-19 testing locations, nearest doctors, pharmacies or their consulates in one place.
“The CroCare system is an online web platform for locating emergency services and COVID testing centres in Croatia. The system simplifies the user’s search procedure, because it has the ability to search by current location, and the user can perform a search via – Selection of categories (Covid testing, embassies and consulates, hospitals and all other state emergency services), Radius (selection of distance in km from your current location with the possibility of selecting categories or tags) and Name (name of the service required by the user),” Dejan Grepo from webLAB explained to us.
The web platform also has a built-in emergency call button with which the user can call the police, firefighters, ambulance, COVID services and emergency services with one click.
The interface is maximally adapted to the end user because it graphically displays a map and a list of locations, and allows direct navigation to the required locations. Also the platform is completely customised for use on computers and mobile devices.
Currently, the web platform is translated into 7 languages with the Smartweb system for recognising the user’s language, which automatically translates the page into his language and filters the location by language interface.
“Such a web platform during a pandemic is more than needed by foreigners as well as domestic guests who in just a few clicks can find out where and how to get to the test centre on COVID-19, report their health, seek medical help, contact their embassy and more,” Grepo added.
The project is intended for the whole of Croatia, and yesterday, on 16 June, the Split-Dalmatia County was implemented in the CroCare system and presented to the public together with representatives of the County Civil Protection, the Tourist Board and the Health Centre.
The system is completely modular and flexible for upgrades and extensions in terms of new search categories for possible post-COVID use — tourist and paediatric clinics, pharmacies, port authorities and the like.
“We are ready to cooperate with all other counties in Croatia that will not only make it easier for guests to find information and find emergency services and testing centres on COVID-19, but will also get complete statistics on which users from which countries, when and where looking for emergency services in the Croatia, which can be very helpful for the preparation and organisation in the coming seasons as well as turning to foreign markets,” says Grepo.
CroCare will be ready to connect the whole of Croatia by the end of June in cooperation with the counties, the Ministry of Tourism and the Croatian Tourist Board, which with such a project will make Croatia the most accessible and organised in Europe.
“Cooperation with other countries in Europe is being prepared due to the great interest of foreign media as well as some neighbouring countries, and we have already secured the domain www.europe.care,“ Grepo concluded.
