Dani Olmo signs for Barcelona and earns Dinamo Zagreb a big pay day

Spanish International and former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Dani Olmo has officially signed for Barcelona.

Barcelona and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement, as confirmed by Barcelona. Olmo will sign a contract for the next six seasons, until 30 June 2030, with a release clause set at €500 million, daily Večernji list reported.

“I’m happy to be back home,” said Olmo, who trained as a youngster at La Masia.

Olmo moved from Barcelona to Dinamo Zagreb as a 16-year-old in 2015 and remained there until 2020 when he transferred to RB Leipzig for €29 million, making it the second most expensive transfer in the Croatian champion’s history after Marko Pjaca, who joined Juventus for €35 million in 2016.

If Olmo is sold for at least €60 million, that results in a €31 million profit for Leipzig. Of that profit, the German club will have to pay 20 per cent to Dinamo, meaning at least €6.2 million will be added to the current Croatian champion’s coffers, writes Večernji list reported.

Olmo played over 80 games for Dinamo Zagreb and scored 20 goals. He has played 39 times for Spain, scoring 11 goals, including one in the Euro 2024 final.

Olmo was also awarded the Golden Boot in a 6-way tie at Euro 2024.
