The 24-year-old Croatian international, who signed for Southampton in the summer from French club Lyon for £8.5 million, has statistically been the best defender in the Premier League this season, according to portal Whoscored.
The popular football portal, which uses a mathematical formula to calculate players performances each week, has Lovren with an average rating of 7.59, which is higher than any other defender in the Premier League. Lovren eased his way into the Best Premier League XI.
