In a year marked by exceptional achievements, Croatian marathon swimmer Dina Levačić has added another prestigious accolade to her name.
After being named the Marathon Swimmer of the Year in 2023 by the World Open Water Swimming Association, she has now been inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (IMSHOF) as an honorary member.
This remarkable achievement makes her the first Croatian woman to receive this honour.
The International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport of marathon swimming.
Levačić joins an esteemed group of Croatians previously honoured by the IMSHOF: Veljko Rogošić, who was inducted in 1998 as a swimmer; Vicko Šoljan, recognised in 2007 for his administrative contributions; and the Faros Marathon, inducted in 2012 for its role as an iconic event in the world of open water swimming.
“I am honoured and also a little surprised to be inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame. This is great recognition for my work and effort as a marathon swimmer over the years. I am happy to be the first woman from Croatia to have this honour and to be alongside Veljko Rogošić, Vicko Šoljan and Faros Marathon who are also in the Hall of Fame. I hope this gives me the stimulus for further accomplishments and for the promotion of the sport and Croatia,” Dina said
Dina Levačić’s career has been defined by her extraordinary feats in open water swimming. She has completed some of the world’s most challenging marathon swims, including the Original Triple Crown.
She also became the only Croatian to complete the Oceans Seven, which is a marathon swimming challenge consisting of the 7 largest and most difficult channels in the world, and the first to complete the Robben Island swim in South Africa.
She recently completed her recent adventure, swimming around 104 Dalmatian islands.
