Croatian football club Dinamo Zagreb is the third most successful club, behind Spain’s Barcelona and Dutch club Feyenoord, when it comes to producing players at this year’s World Cup in Brazil…
According to a study by The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) in Switzerland, Dinamo Zagreb developed 8 players at this year’s finals in Brazil, putting them in third place on the list behind Feyenoord and Barcelona.
The Player Development Ranking is based on two criteria – the number of players at the World Cup who trained at the club for a minimum of three seasons between the age of 15 and 21, and the number of first team appearances at the club until the age of 23. Both Barcelona and Feyenoord have 9 players under this criteria.
Dinamo’s 8 players were – Oliver Zelenika, Šime Vrsaljko, Vedran Ćorluka, Dejan Lovren, Luka Modrić, Milan Badelj, Mateo Kovačić and Eduardo da Silva.
