Mount Dinara is Croatia’s tallest mountain, it is also the country’s youngest Nature Park when it was declared that status in 2021.
The mountains, which is part of the Dinaric Alps, commonly known as Dinarides, has many endemic and endangered species and is a habitat to more than a thousand plant varieties.
Association Biom, a civil society organisation in Croatia dedicated to nature conservation, its promotion and popularisation, is focusing their efforts to restore the nature beauty of Dinara.
Association Biom will be presenting their work to Croats living in the USA with a special online lecture next week.
“Mount Dinara with its lush grasslands and cloudy peaks holds a special place in your heart? Or maybe you never heard about Dinara? In that case, now is a good time to discover what makes this mountain so unique! Its pastoral slopes with grazing sheep and horses are disappearing and taking wildlife with it. We at Association Biom in Croatia are doing our best to stop it and to restore it as it once was,” they said.
The online lecture for Croats living in the USA called “Dinara – neglected queen of Croatia is under a threat” will take place next Thursday, October 29th 2022 on Zoom, 6 PM EST.
During the lecture, Association Biom will talk about what makes Dinara unique, why it is important for Croatia, why it is under a threat and what they are doing to stop it and restore it to be as it once was – the magnificent queen of Croatian mountains. They will also present their organisation, who they are, what we are doing and why.
“The lecture is organized for Croats living in the USA and it will be held in English. We invite you not only to join us but to share this invitation among your Croatian friends and family,” Association Biom said.
You can find out more about their work on Dinara on Dinara back to LIFE website.
