Star-studded tribute in Zagreb for Dražen Petrović’s 60th anniversary

A big event has been announced for the 60th anniversary of the birth of the late Croatian basketball legend Dražen Petrović, which falls on October 22nd.
His brother, Aco Petrović, announced the event, which will be held at Arena Zagreb, at a press conference held at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb.
The spectacle will see numerous basketball legends turn up for the even which will take place on September 5th with live coverage on HTV 2.
Aco Petrović noted that while current European NBA players like Luka Dončić or Nikola Jokić won’t be playing, they are expected to attend as VIP guests, along with other European NBA players, Večernji list said.
He explained the challenges of bringing certain players due to the cost, but assured an impressive lineup of players.
Zdenka Zrilić, the project coordinator, highlighted the significance of the event and the extensive preparations involved. She mentioned the participation of the Croatian national basketball team, a European selection with coach Željko Obradović, and Dražen’s teammates from ’92 Barcelona Olympics, as well as members of the American Dream Team.
The event aims to honour Dražen Petrović’s legacy and celebrate his achievements.
Croatia’s Minister of Tourism and Sport, Nikolina Brnjac, emphasised the importance of showcasing Dražen’s values, especially to the younger generation.
Ticket sales for the spectacle started after the press conference, with Petrović purchasing the first nine tickets. Tickets are available through the Eventim system, priced at 20 and 30 euros.
