Drivers over the age of 65 are at fault for the majority of car accidents they are involved in…
There are 220,000 drivers in Croatia over the age of 65, according to statistics from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and last year they were involved in 4,000 accidents on roads in the country. Out of the total 4,000 accidents, 70% of them were caused by the drivers over the age of 65. The statistic is prompting a push for a law change that will require drivers licence holders over the age of 65 to undergo a routine health check. If the doctor’s check is all clear then licences will be extended for a further 10 years.
