American university, Rochester Institute of Technology, has launched European Post-High School Semester program based in Dubrovnik. The program is intended for high school seniors and recent graduates that seek quality time off, before fully immersing themselves into college life.
Following a week-long orientation in Rome, Italy, students will travel to RIT Croatia, the first RIT’s global campus, founded in Dubrovnik. Considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Dubrovnik will serve as a home base to students who will be able to study at RIT’s campus by taking three college classes worth 10-11 credits, and conducting original research.
“This program is a great opportunity for students who are focused on their personal and academic development, and want to explore their options before making their college choice“, says Rebecca Charry Roje who teaches English composition and literature at the Dubrovnik campus, and is also the coordinator for this program. “Our program provides students a taste of college level academic life (and an opportunity to earn credit that will transfer to the college of their choice) and an opportunity to explore a new country and culture, step outside their comfort zones and gain priceless life experience. The combination of classroom instruction, experiential learning, and excursions throughout the region make this an ideal guided study abroad experience. I’m really looking forward to leading this program and getting to know our new students.“
The program is envisaged for potential RIT students as well as students that choose other college destinations. It is planned to start in late August 2022 and last until late December 2022. More information about the program is available at this link.
