It is one of Croatia’s most isolated cities, but thanks to a healthy looking budget filled by the hundreds of thousands of tourists the city gets each year, the Dubrovnik City Council have decided to help its residents out by announcing that it is to subsidise locals driving up to the capital…
After previously announcing that they would subside air tickets between Dubrovnik – Zagreb, on Monday the local council announced subsidies for motorway tolls for those taking their cars up to Zagreb.
“The city of Dubrovnik has decided that for all of its citizens who travel by car on the route Ploce – Zagreb, we will subsides toll costs with 50 percent of the amount,” Dubrovnik Mayor Andro Vlahušić said on Monday.
Dubrovnik locals have the right to four of the 50% ‘coupons’ annually, which they can obtain from the city council. The subsidy will save locals 228 kuna (30 EUR) per trip.
