Masterpieces worth 670 million euros from one of the world’s most famous painters to ever live are currently being packed in Paris to be shipped to Zagreb, Croatia.
56 paintings and 40 sculptures from the collection of Pablo Picasso are making their way to Zagreb for the exhibition PICASSO – Masterpieces from Musée National Picasso, Paris, which is the most significant exhibition of Picasso’s work in Europe, and will open at the Klovic Palace art gallery in Croatia’s capital Zagreb on 23 March 2013.
A press conference was called yesterday by the gallery’s director Marina Viculin to confirm that the exhibition, which was postponed from its original opening date of 14 February, would still go ahead. Viculin said that the exhibition will cost over 1 million euros, but sponsors and support from the Ministry of Culture to the tune of 250,000 euros as well as the City of Zagreb would help cover costs. Viculin expects around 100,000 visitors to the exhibition, making it the most successful exhibition ever held in the gallery. The exhibition will be open until 7 July.
