Golf Park Dubrovnik, a project which would see a 18 and 9 hole golf course, sports centre, hotel, tennis courts, horse-riding club, restaurants, galleries, cycling and running tracks, bars and parks built on Srd hill in Dubrovnik is up in the air after residents against the project gathered enough signatures to take it to a referendum.
Locals against the elite golfing destination project needed to gather 20% of the city’s 8,000 registered voters to force a referendum on the complex and on Sunday they managed to do it, getting 8,200 signatures.
Petition organiser Igor Miosic says that the speed in which they gathered the required number of signatures (around 10 days) showed that the city’s citizens know their rights and obligations towards Dubrovnik.
