ZAGREB, 3 October 2020 – After cancelling its service to the Croatian capital for 2020, the United Arab Emirates flag carrier Emirates has now cancelled its service to Zagreb all of 2021.
As Croatian Aviation reports, the Dubai-based airline will not operate its Dubai – Zagreb service in 2021.
Emirates had planned to resume its seasonal service to Zagreb from the beginning of March this year before the coronavirus pandemic forced the grounding of flights.
They were set to resume during the summer and the latest plan was to resume in September this year but that had also been scrapped.
“The company has canceled all flights to Zagreb for next year, closed its office at Zagreb Airport, and let staff go. The large B777-300ER aircraft that were in Zagreb every day will not return to the Croatian capital any time soon, which is certainly a financial blow to the airport, given the revenue is generated from the daily landing of this company’s aircraft,” Croatian Aviation said.
Emirates connected Zagreb with the rest of the world on a daily basis, offering excellent service to passengers on its flights on which it operated modernly equipped aircraft.
In addition to the Dubai – Zagreb route, Emirates also canceled the following routes for 2021:
Dubai – Edinburgh
Dubai – Porto
Dubai – St. Petersburg
flyDubai, who flew to Zagreb during the winter, canceled all flights to Zagreb for October, November, and for most of December. It is currently possible to book flights on this route from December 27th, but the probability that those flights will be operating is very small.
Zagreb Airport currently does not have a confirmed direct route with Dubai for 2021.
