Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has admitted he spent more than £4,000, around 40,000 Croatian kuna, to watch his beloved side beat Chelsea in the last round of the English Premiership…
Parish was holidaying on board a yacht on the Croatian coast a fortnight ago, and when his holiday clashed with his sides clash with reigning champions Chelsea at Stanford Bridge, the passionate Chairman says that he had to find a way to watch his side.
“The game was on Croatian television but the only way I could get it on the box was to stream it off my phone. I probably spent the thick end of four grand on my 3G. I’m waiting for the bill now and it’ll be a ridiculous amount, but worth every penny. It was a brilliant picture, too. Perfectly clear. It was like being there. Honest,” Parish told the Guardian.
Parish could have watched the match a lot cheaper than the 40,000 kuna he will shell out, including buying a local SIM card to get the stream, but obviously money is no object. Crystal Palace won the match 2-1.
