The brilliantly organised series of cycling events Epic Rides arrives in Srijem’s bike friendly capital on Saturday.
The beautiful town of Ilok is the host of this gathering where more than a hundred bike fans are expected.
“Picturesque trails without technically demanding parts are an opportunity to discover and get to know the beauties of Ilok and Srijem in a slightly more relaxed cycling edition, but with all the necessary cycling support. Those who want to ride as casually as possible or in a slightly weaker condition can always rent an e-bike from our partner Husqvarna,” said Adria Bike, the organiser of this recreational event that has so far passed the trails of the Samobor Mountains, Gorski Kotar, the island of Krk, Skradin and the Krka National Park.
All participants will receive Gpx file trails, and bike guides are available. During the event on the track there will be vehicle support that will jump in to help at any time if anyone needs it.
A feed zone will be organised halfway through the trail. At the start and finish there is a area for socialising and relaxation, and everyone will receive a starter pack that includes a snack meal, drink bottle, number plate, coffee, beer, juice and of course, the inevitable brandy in the spirit of Srijem custom.
“The start and finish are in the old Ilok historical core, starting at 10.30, the total length of the Epic Rides route is about forty kilometres, but it is not necessary to ride it all. Cyclists choose whether to take the entire route, and they can disconnect and reconnect at any time. Feed zone is on the beautiful country estate and the most famous wine-growing position Principovac from which you can see the view of Ilok. I am extremely glad that we are one of the few selected destinations for this specific cycling story. Apart from being an attractive event, it is even more important that Srijem got a new Epic Rides route that can be taken whenever you want, and it is a great addition to the existing routes,” says Ivica Miličević, director of the Ilok Tourist Board, which is the co-organiser and patron of the Ilok Epic Rides.
For this enjoyment of the Srijem idyll on pedals, it is necessary to set aside 190 kuna. The perfect opportunity to discover Ilok from a new perspective, do something good for your health and make new acquaintances. You can sign up here.
“You can discover a large part of Srijem and Slavonia by bike, we have hundreds of kilometres of cycling routes, the southern and northeastern area of Vukovar-Srijem County is connected by the Srijem route which connects to EuroVelo 6, the famous Danube route,” points out the director of the Vukovar-Srijem County Tourist Board Rujana Bušić Srpak.
Srijem is a real little paradise for cyclists.
