The Summer School “Domovina” (Domovina Birthright Program) is a project of the Central State Office for Croats Abroad, created in partnership with the Association of Croatian American Professionals.
It is aimed at young people aged 18 to 30. The project aims to strengthen the identity of the Croatian diaspora, promote global networking among Croats, encourage cultural and scientific collaboration with the young generation of Croatian diaspora descendants, develop and strengthen heritage tourism in the Republic of Croatia, and raise awareness of the indivisible Croatian people.
This year’s “Domovina” Summer School program will take place from June 18th to July 1st, 2024.
Over the course of fourteen days, participants of the Summer School will visit numerous locations of cultural, religious, and historical significance to the Croatian people worldwide.
They will experience the richness of Croatian gastronomy, music, language, and the beauty of life in the homeland of their ancestors. With the participation of young descendants of Croatian immigrants from South America, Australia, the USA, Canada, South Africa, Europe, and the United Kingdom, this project also aims to connect Croatian communities worldwide.
Through dialogue and shared exploration of our Beautiful Homeland, participants from different continents will be able to recognise the similarities and differences that link their own and other Croatian communities distant from the homeland. Several cities that participants will visit during the Summer School include Dubrovnik, Sinj, Zadar, Varaždin, Osijek, Vukovar, Šibenik, Split, and Zagreb.
