Famous German photographer and filmmaker Peter Lindbergh, and American designer, landscape architect, performance and installation artist Vito Acconci will both exhibit in Zagreb next year…
Acconci (73) will use the Zagreb exhibition early next year as his swan song.
“The last project in the career of Acconci he has decided to do for Zagreb. It will also be the first time that he will visit Zagreb, same as photographer Peter Lindbergh. Both are massive on the contemporary scene and will visit the region for the first time, which is a huge honour for us. They want to present their works, educate the public and talk about their works,” said Croatian Association of Artists director Gaella Gottwald.
Acconci, who in the early part of his career transformed himself into a performance and video artist using his own body as a subject for photography, film, video, and performance, recently focused on architecture and landscape design that integrates public and private space. One example of this is “Walkways Through the Wall,” which flow through structural boundaries of the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and provide seating at both ends.
Photographer Lindbergh, who will exhibit in Zagreb in April 2014, has also made a number of films, including the 1991 feature-length documentary, Models – The Film, shot in New York with the Supermodels. He was the first photographer to incorporate storylines into his fashion editorials. Another iconic event, a photographic story with Helena Christensen as a Martian for Italian Vogue in 1990 was the beginning of narrative used in fashion photography.
