Promising young Croatian tennis player Borna Ćorić has made sweeping changes to his team by announcing a new coach and a new manager – former Croatian star Ivan Ljubičić.
Ljubičić, who has been instrumental in the rise again of Roger Federer after he joined the Swiss great’s coaching staff two years ago, will manage Ćorić.
The 21-year Croatian, who won the ATP Star of Tomorrow award for being the youngest player in the top 100 and who is currently ranked inside the TOP 50 in the world, also appointed Italy’s Riccardo Piatti as his new coach.
Piatti, who is a former player, has coached several top players, including Novak Djokovic, Ivan Ljubičić, Richard Gasquet, and Milos Raonic.
“I’m currently at Piatti Tennis Centre in Bordighera, Italy where I’m practicing with Riccardo Piatti and his team. Riccardo, Dalibor Sirola and Claudio Zimaglia are a team with the necessary knowledge and experience and together with Kristijan Schneider, I believe make an ideal solution for me,” Ćorić announced on social media, before adding.
“I have decided to make further changes. Ivan Ljubicic and his agency S.A.M., which is working with Tomas Berdych and some of the world’s best young players, are also my new partners that will help me in my further development.”
Ljubicic and his agency S.A.M have also been looking after talented Split players Duje Ajduković (16) and Dino Prižmić (12).
