As expected, Croatian heavyweight boxer Filip Hrgović has chalked up his 13th professional win on Friday night after comfortably beating Montenegro’s Marko Radonjić.
Hrgović knocked down his much lower ranked opponent five times before the ref stopped the fight at the start of fourth round to claim victory in Klagenfurt, Austria in front of a handful of Croatian fans.
The 29-year-old started the first round by sizing up his opponent and did not launch any real punches until the second round when he knocked down Radonjić four times in the round. Radonjić hit the deck again in the third round and could barely stay on his feet. The ref eventually called an end to the bout at the start of the fourth round.
The Croatian is now 13-0 after his first fight in over 9 months.
The loss tonight was Radonjić’s first after he won his previous 22 fights, fighting mostly in Eastern and Central Europe.
Hrgović had been patiently training for the past 9 months as a number of boxers have run scared, despite a promised shot at the title if they win. Hrgović has been promised an IBF final eliminator fight for the right to fight for Anthony Joshua’s IBF belt.
