Filip Hrgović to face unbeaten Australian on path to world title fight

Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgović has notched up his 14th win of his professional career on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Croatian boxer Filip Hrgović has to get through Australian Demsey McKean before having a shot at the heavyweight championship of the world title. 

Hrgović will fight McKean on Saturday, 12 August at the O2 Arena in London on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs Robert Helenius fight. 

“The IBF number one spot is up for grabs for Demsey McKean to gatecrash Filip Hrgovic’s mandatory position. ‘The Tower’ meets ‘El Animal’ this Saturday in London as two unbeaten Heavyweights collide live on DAZN, part of the Joshua vs Helenius undercard,” said promoters Matchroom Boxing, who went behind the scenes with both fighters ahead of this weekend’s fight.

The Croatian has been in camp at Ronnie Shields Boxing in Texas preparing for the fight and he is happy how things have gone. 

“So far everything is good, I am satisfied with the camp. I don’t care who I am fighting, I am confident I can beat anyone,” Hrgović said.

If Hrgović wins then he will he is set for a world title fight after the IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, a fight which could take place later in the year. 

Hrgović has 15 pro fights, chalking up 15 wins and 12 knockouts.
