Emirates will launch year-round flights between Dubai and Zagreb on 1 June, with tickets priced at around €400.
The Dubai – Zagreb service will operate daily all year round when it launches on 1 June 2017, with Croatian footballer Luka Modrić a possible passenger on the inaugural flight.
“We are very interested in football, we sponsor Real Madrid and we love Luka Modrić. Maybe he will be a passenger on our first flight from Zagreb to Dubai on 1 June”, Emirates’ Thierry Antinori told Vecernji list.
A 364-seat Boeing 777-300 aircraft, which includes 12 first class and 42 business class seats, will be used to for the flights and Antinori says return fares from Zagreb to Dubai will cost around €400 (3,000 HRK).
Emirates will offer passengers from Croatia connections to over 150 destinations spread over six continents via its hub in Dubai, however, its main target will be connecting passengers to and from Australia and Asia.
“We are very happy that we will connect Zagreb with Emirates, but also the Middle East, Asia and Australia. We practically connect Croatia to 40 cities in that part of the world and we are expecting 70-80% capacity on the flights”, Antinori concluded.
Emirates will be the only airline to connect Dubai with Zagreb after Flydubai last year suspended its service and will have no direct competition on the route. It will battle for business however with Qatar Airways, which will operate nine weekly flights to Zagreb from Doha.
