American fast-food restaurant chain Pizza Hut is set to open its first restaurants in Croatia.
The third-largest American fast-food pizza chain after Hunt Brothers and Domino’s, will open in the Zagreb neighbourhoods of Trešnjevka and Vrapče.
As reported today by portal Kult Plave Kamenice, the Trešnjevka Pizza Hut will be located at Nehajska 2, while the Vrapče branch will operate at Bolnička ulica 26.
The arrival of Pizza Hut in Zagreb could potentially disrupt Domino’s business, as both chains operate in the same category. Despite Domino’s popularity, especially among younger customers, Pizza Hut’s entry is expected to spark fierce competition, Kult Plave Kamenice added.
With over 19,000 locations in more than 100 countries and approximately $6.8 billion in annual revenue, Pizza Hut, like Domino’s, focuses on basic, low-cost fast-food pizzas. While the pizzas from these chains may not be gourmet, their successful business models speak for themselves.
The rivalry between Pizza Hut and Domino’s is one of the most intense in the fast-food market, with both chains dominating the pizza segment for decades.
They are known for their extensive pizza choices and keeping up with trends, such as vegetarian, vegan, and seasonal pizzas, as well as customisable ingredient options. Both offer pizzas with various crusts, along with other fast-food items and desserts.
With the presence of both chains, Croatia has now become part of one of the larger franchise battles in the food industry. It’s worth noting that Pizza Hut was rumoured to arrive in Croatia around 10 years ago, with the announcement of the opening of three branches.
