Croatia’s President Ivo Josipović has arrived in Switzerland today for his first official visit…
Josipović, who is in Switzerland on the invitation of the head of state of the Swiss Confederation, Didier Burkhalter, will hold talks with officials on Thursday and Friday. It is the first time a Croatian President has made an official visit to Switzerland since Croatia’s independence.
Besides holding talks concerning bilateral cooperation and European issues with Burkalter, Josipović will also meet the Croatian community in Switzerland at a function in Bern. Around 60-80,000 Croats reside in Switzerland.
Earlier this year Switzerland adopted a declaration, which will come into effect on 1 July 2014, on the equal treatment of Croatian nationals and other EU citizens, allowing the immigration of Croatian passport-holders in a contingent envisaged by Protocol III on the agreement on free movement of people.
