Once again, brave souls in flip-flops are taking on Croatia’s Biokovo mountain.
The highly anticipated FLIP FLOP BIOKOVO CHALLENGE is set to take place from June 7th to 8th, 2024, promising a blend of education, recreation, and entertainment.
The event invites both local and international guests to join, supported by well-known aid services: the Red Cross Makarska, HGSS Makarska, Podgora Firefighters, representatives of Biokovo Nature Park, and mountaineers from HPD Vitrenik.
This year introduces an exciting twist to the traditional “FLIP FLOP” program.
Podgora, being a perfect fusion of sea and mountains, will see participants starting their challenge directly from the sea.
On June 7th, a warm-up party featuring the inaugural AIR MATTRESS RACE will kick off the festivities at 4:00 PM on the pier in front of the old hotel Podgorka.
This pre-race event will also include discussions on sea safety and conduct, as well as details about the main event on Biokovo.
The following day, June 8th, participants will transition from sea to mountain, enjoying free entry to Biokovo Nature Park. The day will be filled with activities such as a Dalmatian snack, various educational sessions, the infamous flip-flop race, and a newly equipped playground for children.
These attractions make it a perfect outing for everyone.
For those not interested in the athletic aspect, there’s a special treat: an acoustic concert by the American group Forest Ray, who have roots in Podgora, will perform on Biokovo.
Participants are to gather on June 8th at 9:00 AM at Prijevoj Staza, Biokovska cesta 102, within Biokovo Nature Park. The race, short and fun, is run at your own risk—after all, it’s in flip-flops.
The primary goal of this event is to educate individuals on how to be well-prepared and informed about potential dangers, ensuring they can enjoy the natural beauty of the sea and Biokovo with greater peace of mind.
Registrations for the race are open until June 7th and can be sent to: [email protected]. Don’t miss this unique and educational event.
