The “Month of Pag Salt” is an event organised for the second year in a row by Solana Pag, in collaboration with the Pag Tourist Board, Pag Cheese Dairy, and small producers from the Croatian island of Pag.
If you’re considering a last-minute trip to the coast, Pag is a great option, especially in September when the “Month of Pag Salt” event is taking place for the second consecutive year.
The festival began last week and offers a variety of themed days. Last Friday’s focus was “Salt and Wine,” while this Friday, 13th September, the theme will be “Salt and Cheese.”
Visitors will have the chance to taste the famous Pag cheeses, attend the Wolly Handmade felting workshop (which features an original souvenir from the town of Pag), and join a photo safari along the dike of Solana Pag on 19th September, for which prior reservation is required.
‘Mornings in the salt fields’ are also a must, and every Friday you have the chance to experience salt harvesting, listen to educational talks, and purchase all Solana Pag products at special discounted prices.
Last week, the first guests witnessed the creation of fleur de sel and saw the salt fields that produce this essential ingredient. You too can enjoy this unique experience.
Additionally, throughout the entire day, you can visit the permanent exhibition on salt production at the first warehouse on the old waterfront, where you’ll discover fascinating facts about both the history and modern-day salt production on the island of Pag.
