A camera man at the UEFA Champions League match between Manchester United and Wolfsburg at Old Trafford last week is probably unaware of what one of his photos has spiralled to…
Frank Vlatko, a 45-year old Australian-Croat (his father is from Blato on island Korčula, and mother from Šibenik), was attending the Manchester United v Wolfsburg match at Old Trafford last week when he was snapped in the crowd wearing a Hajduk Split t-shirt.
Spotted by Hajduk fans, the photo soon went viral on the net, which lead to Hajduk Split FC putting out a request for the fan in the Hajduk shirt to come forward. When Vlatko did he was told the news that the club wanted to host him in Split.
Yesterday Vlatko flew in from Manchester and was a guest at Poljud stadium as Hajduk Split took on Istra 1961 in a league match. Vlatko was gifted a Hajduk shirt with number 9 on the back by marketing manager Aljoša Bašić.
“I’m deeply moved with this Hajduk’s gesture,” said Frank to Hajduk.hr after meeting coach Damir Burić, adding that he even shedded a tear at Poljud stadium for his father who passed on his love for Hajduk to him.
