Fuliranje: Details of Zagreb’s most popular Advent event

From November 29th to January 7th, 2024, Zagreb’s Josip Juraj Strossmayer Square will be filled with Christmas scents, flavours, sounds, and joy – here are the first details of the legendary “Fuliranje.”

Fuliranje is one of the favourite parts of Advent in Zagreb. And for a good reason. It’s the most popular event within Zagreb’s Advent, and they’re ready to prove it for the 11th consecutive year, from November 29th to January 7th, 2024, when they bring the Christmas atmosphere with a distinctive signature to Josip Juraj Strossmayer Square in Zagreb.

This winter, Fuliranje has a mission – to bring Christmas back to the streets of Zagreb in grand style. Christmas trees and gifts, lights and cinnamon, Santa Claus, turkey, sarma, and fritters, old and new Christmas songs – at Fuliranje, you’ll step into a true holiday atmosphere with all your senses, and the beloved Strossmayer Square will smell, look, sound, and vibrate like the warmest Christmas home.

“Fuliranje is celebrating its eleventh year this winter, and we can proudly say that we have significantly contributed to the development of Advent as a tourist brand in Zagreb. In collaboration with the Zagreb Tourist Board, hundreds of restaurants, caterers, designers, and chefs, we have worked to elevate the standards of Zagreb’s street food scene, as well as the gastronomic and tourist offer of Zagreb in general. 

Hundreds of DJs, top musicians, and performers during Fuliranje have made Zagreb’s streets more urban, modern, and cultural. The atmosphere created in Zagreb has given a serious boost and support to the creative event industry, making Advent in Zagreb one of the best in the world in just 11 years, and certainly the most attractive gastronomically,” say the organisers from the creative agency “Kokoš ili jaje.”

Indeed, every year, the gastronomic delights at Fuliranje become more enticing, remaining the focal point. This winter, some of the most creative representatives from all over Croatia will gather again at Strossmayer Square.

Of the total 17 booths at this year’s Fuliranje, the delightful gastronomic offerings have been specially prepared for the most beautiful time of the year by: Nebo by Deni Srdoč Streetstyle, Izakaya, Institute for Sausages by Mate Janković, Boogie Lab, Chefs burger by Ivan Pažanin, Picnic Mingle and Fun, Pizza Social Club, Purple Monkey, Rougemarin, Begs Plant Based Streetfood, Kužinavanje by Damir Tomljanović, Full Circle, Briocherie, and Bakina tajna.

In such a rich and wide range of culinary genres, everyone will find their favorite bites at Fuliranje. The holiday days and evenings will be further warmed by the best wines, top brandies, cocktails, and champagnes offered by the legendary Rakijarnica and the unmatched Gingle Bells.

Designed with love and imagination, the program for the youngest is also noteworthy, including the best Santa Claus in the country and beyond, performances by children’s choirs on Sundays at noon, and a special attraction will be the charity painting of 15 wooden trees, where carefully selected artists will give their soul and creative stamp on the spot.

In addition to irresistible gastronomic delights and the best holiday cheers, this year’s Fuliranje will offer an even richer musical program. Visitors will be entertained in the musical program, under the creative direction of Ozren Kanceljak, by 13 carefully chosen DJs starting from Thursday, November 30th, when DJ Pepi Jogarde performs. DJ performances will continue throughout the duration of Fuliranje from Wednesday to Sunday. In the month of celebration and joy, visitors will be able to enjoy free concerts by Connect, Songkillers, Queen Tribute band, and another surprise concert is also announced.

For an unforgettable farewell to this year and a spectacular entry into 2024, TBF will take care of Fuliranje. The incomparable members of TBF are already well into preparations for the New Year’s Eve celebration at Fuliranje and announce a “fantastic party from which you will leave in the wee hours of 2024 with a smile on your face.”
