Global Passport Index: Croatia secures Top 10 spot

The 2023 Global Passport Index, which ranks passports based on the freedom of movement they grant to their holders via visa-free entry, has just been released.

According to the latest report released this week, Croatia has claimed eighth equal spot on the list, whilst the United Arab Emirates secured the top position, with their citizens enjoying visa-free entry to 180 countries.

Sharing the second position are Germany, Spain, France, Italy, and the Netherlands. The third spot is occupied by Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Austria, and Switzerland.

Denmark, Belgium, Portugal, Poland, Ireland, and South Korea secured places just below, while the fifth spot is held by Singapore, Greece, Norway, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Japan, and New Zealand.

The sixth position is reserved for Slovakia, the United States, and Australia, while Malta, Estonia, Lithuania, neighboring Slovenia, and Canada are placed seventh.

Croatia shares the eighth spot with Latvia, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.

Croatian citizens can travel visa-free to 172 destinations, requiring a visa for 26 locations.

Countries in the surrounding region follow Croatia, with Serbia at the 32nd position, Bosnia and Herzegovina 12 places lower at 44th. North Macedonia and Montenegro are at the 36th and 37th positions, respectively. Slovenia outperformed Croatia, securing the seventh position.

The list comprises a total of 98 places, with Syria situated at the bottom.
