The Croatian Ministry of Tourism is set to launch an incentive programme which will see thousands of swimming pools be built at private accommodation homes and at small family hotels up and down the country.
The government will give 50,000 kuna (6,600 euro) grants for renters of private tourist accommodation homes and small family hotels to build swimming pools.
“Guests are more and more seeking accommodation with swimming pools, and tourism operators state that those destinations where accommodation has swimming pools, have up to 8 week longer tourist seasons than those that don’t,” said the Ministry.
The requirement to be eligible for the ‘free’ grant is that the swimming pool must be bigger than 30 square metres. For all pools built up to 50 square metres in size, it is expected that no building permits will be required as part of the incentive scheme.
