Ground Opens Up In Zadar

“I wish the ground would open up and swallow me”, a phrase often used in jest when someone is faced with an embarrassing situation. The phrase however has become a reality recently with a spate of incidents around the world where the ground has literally opened up. Recently in Florida a man was swallowed by a sinkhole  and there have been reports recently in Drnis and Medimurje in Croatia of the ground opening up also.

On Monday daily Croatian newspaper Vecernji list has reported that in the Dalmatian town of Zadar a large hole, over 1 meter wide and deep, has opened up for no apparent reason. Click here for full photos.
