Handball: Croatia beats European champions Spain

POREČ, 5 January 2021 – Croatia has beaten European handball champions Spain in Poreč on Tuesday in their EHF EURO Cup match.
Croatia was too good today for Spain, winning 31-28 in what was a repeat of the 2020 European Men’s Handball Championship final.
Croatia was missing a number of players through injury, including keeper Marin Šego and Manuel Štrleka but captain and player of the year Domagoj Duvnjak was back.
Croatia led 17-14 at halftime.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday, 9 January in Madrid.
The match was also a warm-up ahead of the 2021 World Men’s Handball Championship which starts in Egypt on January 13.
The World Men’s Handball Championship will be the first with 32 teams instead of 24. The 32 teams are split in eight groups of four teams each.
Croatia is in Group C alongside Qatar, Japan and Angola.
