Croatia has comfortably beaten Ukraine in their final group match at the 2022 EHF European Men’s Handball Championship in Hungary on Monday.
Hrvoje Horvat’s team, who beat Serbia on Saturday, were too good for Ukraine, running away with the match in the end 38-25 after leading 18-13 at halftime.
For Croatia, Marino Marić, Ivan Martinović, Luka Cindrić and Tin Lučin were in good form on attack, whilst Mate Šunjić made a number of good saves in goal, particularly in the first half.
Croatia finishes Group C on four points with two wins, against Serbia and Ukraine, and one loss against France in the opening match.
With only two teams going into the second round from the group, Croatia now needs to wait to the see the result of the France v Serbia match which is being played later on Monday night.
If France beat Serbia as expected, then Croatia will go through as the second-placed team. If Serbia manages to win it complicates the matter for Croatia and will come down to head to head and goal difference.
Croatia, who were finalists last year, are playing in their 15th European Championships.
